Hey, everyone!

My name's Buck, music representative and engineer for RESOLUTE Games & Apps in Memphis, TN. Fall is coming up, and we're looking for some new music from known and unknown artists across the world for the sequel to our iPhone/iPod touch hit, Thumstruck.

Here's a early working example of easy mode from the first game to give you an idea of how the game works.

I've posted here because I'm confident that there's talent here waiting to be discovered, and I want YOUR MUSIC to be featured in our video game! We want players to have lots and lots of music from which to choose!

A lot of music games right now focus heavily on specific genres. Guitar hero has its rock, and DDR has its electronica. We're looking for an eclectic mix to appeal to all audiences. All genres are welcome, provided there is some melodic base on which to build a game track. Quality and playability are the key!

If you have any questions, you can e-mail, PM, or IM me (see my profile). If you are interested in looking into Thumstruck, you can find out more at http://www.resolutegames.com/?page_id=15 or on the iTunes AppStore. Google has a lot of good stuff, too.

Submission rules:
1. Please submit a link to a website and/or an e-mail address at which to contact you.

2. You may submit only two songs. Each song submitted must have no "bad words," be under 5 minutes long (preferably 2-4 minutes), and be a high quality/studio quality recording. They should be sent as 320 kb/s Stereo MP3 format. If your song has bad words, we will accept an edited version (sorry, but it's AppStore rules).

3. We need to know the name of your song, the band, the length, and the genre for each song submitted.

4. If you don't have a website, tell us your band/artist name, preferred genre title, and give us a quick blurb about the band.

5. YOUR SUBMISSION DOES NOT GUARANTEE APPROVAL. RESOLUTE Games alone decides which songs are selected and which are not. If your music is selected, you will be notified.

5. All submissions must be received no later than August 31, 11:59 pm.

6. Remember, if your submission is approved, you song may not be immediately available to play. We plan to release a song or two every week. You will be notified when your song is playable.

7. We encourage artists to share info with their friends and fans! If you're selected, brag it up! If you know another artist looking for recognition, send them our way! Remember, submission approval is not based on the number of submissions we receive, but on QUALITY and PLAYABILITY of those songs submitted.

8. There will be no monetary compensation for the use of your music. But there will be a direct iTunes link to available downloads, if provided. That means, if your music is in a store, players will be able to find and buy it through the game. Also, we’re going to feature all songs on our website, our marketing materials, and our social media outlets (like Facebook). The license will be non-exclusive with no exchange of intellectual priorities.

E-mail all submissions to info@memphis.resolutegames.com

Subject:Summer Concert
Time:12:23 am
Yay! For those of you in the Metropolitan D.C. area. I will be playing at the Metropolitan Community Church of Washington, D.C. (MCC DC) this Sunday, August 24, 2008. They will have a "Summer Soul Concert" with a reception following (AKA Food!). I really haven't had any time to practice for it, so it shouldn't be the best performance, but it ought to be fun. MCC DC is a gay-friendly (I really should say gay-oriented) church in downtown DC on 5th street between M and N streets. The people are great and Shirli Hughes, who is music directing the event is fabulous! Come if you can!

So I just noticed the last post. I actually haven't been too active on LJ for the past two years either, but hey! Let's bring this fabulous little community back to life. My name is Nick. I'm 18 years old, going to be 19 really soon (yay!). I'm going in to my 2nd year at the University of Michigan as a voice performance major. I'm a baritone, and I love being a voice major and being gay! Woo. As of right now, my favorite piece(s) are the "Three Songs" set by Samuel Barber. Also, I'm really into French art songs, Verdi and Strauss operas, and some musical theater too. Gilbert and Sullivan is currently my guilty pleasure, aside from other things.

So... here we go again... I will start actively posting in this community and encourage others to do the same. I'm not going to go into what I've been doing for the last two years, but suffice it to say... I'M BACK BITCHES!!! Anyway, I was just reading some of the posts and it made me think that it would be great to have this as another home (again). Start posting stuff!!!

Hello All!

My name is Eric. I am a gay 18 year old singer from northern California. I am nor sure just how active this community is, but I have like, three hours until call time for my show, so yeah.

I sing tenor in most choirs that I do, but I am a baritone. I am excited because I actually get to audition as a baritone for a choir! Wish me luck!

I think my favorite piece is just about anything. honestly cannot think of anything that I do not like... except Civil War, I hate that show...

WOW!! Yes, the dead has arisen. After my (not so) brief foray into the world of non-livejournalism, I've returned. I would go into detail to explain everything, but in the interest of time and page space, I'll just say that I've been working too much. That and I found MySpace, which, I'm sure, would merit castration in the world of LJ. Anyway, I just want to say hello to all and thank pianoman06 for continuing the task of moderating while I was away. So, I just want to jump start things by asking you all for advice. I am supposed to start tutoring this guy in theory. It's nothing advanced, just help with pitch matching, interval recognition, ear training etc. I have a few ideas of my own, but I would love to hear input.

Subject:Feelin' A Key
Time:10:44 am
Once upon a time a music history professor of mine while talking about ancient music mentioned that the Greeks had particular moods, themes or feelings attached to the different modes that they used in their music. For example "All of the young kids today listen to that Phrygian music; that's why they're all sex-crazed!"

I'm just wondering if there are similar theories about our modern-day keys in Western music. Despte the fact that we use equal temperament these days when tuning, it cannot be denied that A Major has a different sound and 'feel' from C Major and both are quite different from B Major.

For instance, is A Major all about jubilation, triumph and victory while C-sharp Minor is all about regret and unrequited love? I'm completely making these suggestions up but if there are any theories out there - whether published or completely personal on the part of the person commenting - I'd love to hear them.

Heck, if you know of a theory (or have one of your own) that suggests this very notion is utter cocknobbery, I'd like to hear about that too! Thanks in advance!

(Cross-posted to everywhere I could think of.)
